Der Stempelhop - Color Blocking

*** Dieser Post enthält Werbung. ***

Today I'll be back in the Stempelhop (a stamp hop). You can find my contribution here and also on Instagram. The theme for the hop today is not as simple as it was on the last hop about flowers. Today the theme is Color Blocking! And this is what my implementation looks like:

To make sure that it does not get lost, here is the link, which you can use to continue hopping. But I also added it at the end of my text, so you are welcome to stay here with me for a while.
The next hop goes to Kathrin.

Color Blocking is about combining colors that at first glance do not fit together. One often finds the description that these are colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel. But then you often see examples (especially in fashion) with colors that lie next to each other on the color wheel. And to be honest, in the design you combine just those colors that are either opposite or next to each other in the color wheel.

Whatever the theory says, I think that you can't go wrong with two or even three colours. Three colours - no matter what kind - can always be combined. This is stempelfrida's three color theory.
But which principle you find in color blocking is that you combine large areas with these colors. And so I definitely chose wide blocks as the basic principle of my card. In one of my frequently used color combinations pink, orange and yellow.

If you were wandering what the tet means:
This time it is a bit more diificult for me to explain. First of all it is a slang used in the Ruhrgebiet (a wonderful place in Germany :)). And the word Trallafitti means making party, having fun - but even in German it sounds really fun.

If you always wanted to participate in a stamp hop, then come and have a look at our FB group (I am afraid it is just in German). Here is the link.
And now the hop continues at Kathrin Stempelfux.

The different summer

*** Dieser Post enthält Werbung. ***
*** This post contains advertisement. ***

Oh, isn't it a horror this year with the summer? Such stupid times, when you really have to think about whether it's not better to stay at home in your own place and therefore not see many of your kind friends and also loved places. That's the same with my fish here. He complains: I miss you! Everything is different this summer.

I stamped the fish, the glass, the hand with the sign and the tet separately and fuzzy-cut them. I do own the stamp set from Your Next Stamp for quite some time already and love it soooo much. But I did not yet find an occasion to use it. But now was the moment! I wrote the special text by hand and matched it to the other one in design. Everything is coloured with Copics and I added accents with a Sakura marker. All objects are arranged with spacer pads. I added the scribbles on the bottom by hand. The green paper in the background is a design paper.

*** This post contains advertisement. ***

This cute dragon from the new release of Stamp Corner inspired me to use it as a fulfiller of a wish (that is what the text says) - for example for money as a present.

How did I make this card?
Why don't I start with how I made the tag first? It is a die- cut. Because you couldn't see the super tiny holes at the edge on the black background, I emphasized them with a Sakura marker. For the green pattern I put a stencil from Visible Image over the tag and then dabbed it with a Versamark ink pad. For embossing I used a multicoloured green embossing powder.

I stamped my motif and also the text with Ink on 3. I coloured with Copics, Sakura marker and Polychromos. The card background is stamped with a flower in two different colours. I love the imprints of Distress Oxides, because they are so clear and saturated. At the edge I have painted dots by hand.

The stripes with the big red dots are scraps I had left from another project. They were white and I coloured the dots in red. I also painted the diagonal blue stripe with a matching shade of Copics.

Mein Monat 2020-06

Nine cards fit perfectly into a monthly collage. One can arrange it nicely and there is enough room to see each of them. Don´t you think? But as always you can also have a look at the individual posts of last month, if one of my cards caught your interest.

One of my cards was an interactive card. The rocker card in the bottom row in the middle. It had the cute little edge-seater from Stamp Corner squatting in the top corner. Visible Image had a new release and I made the cards in the middle row with the new goodies. I did a lot of colouring again, but I also worked on the design of backgrounds. With the card in the middle I put a lot of hard work into the flowers which fill the heart.

As always I would like to link also this collage at Anna´s Art from Ingrid.

Herzlich Eure / Kind regards from

Visible Wednesday - Playful daisy

*** Dieser Post enthält Werbung. ***
*** This post contains advertisement. ***

I love my garden. And that's why I like to use the inspiration from the garden in my cards. Sometimes it's the animals, sometimes the colours or the flowers. I was directly in love with the Daisy Daisy stencil from Visible Image from the new release and said I needed two of them. Not to give them away, no. I want to work with one of them and the other one is for admiring it and to pet it. It is just so beautiful. It's - like some others from the new release - a frameless design.

But this card is not only inspired by my garden. I remembered my Kindergarten days. From time to time we worked with stencils and used a toothbrush to sprinkle the watercolour through a sieve. I wanted to try this technique again.
But first I applied the paint in the middle of the flower with a brush through the stencil. In the middle I used a yellow tone and blended it with orange towards the outside.

Then the spraying technique was used. My water colours are water crayons from Lyra. For this step I covered the middle of the flower with a circle.

For a special effect I wanted to have petals in orange shades behind my motif. So I had to dig deep in my box of ideas, because I realized that I have many filigree leaf dies, but somehow I didn't have a suitable one for my motif. And so I used a punch set that contains rather spacy objects (called atomic elements). You can see the dies I used on the picture in the material list further below.

I stamped the wonderful sentiment from Visible Image with Distress Oxides. To underline the happy playful look a bit more I cut the stitched wavelines on the of the edges.

It is so much fun to play with alcohol inks, isn´t it? Did you already try it out? The best paper for it is Yupo paper. The colours just run so perfectly on it.

I have stamped the motive on my alcohol ink background. It is best to use a stamping aid, because on Yupo paper the stamps slip so much. I used Archival Ink for stamping. I also stamped the text with this ink pad on vellum and attached the vellum behind the card. I glued a white frame with stitches on top of my picture.
The sentiment says: Be wild, be free be wonderful!

Sunshine

*** Dieser Post enthält Werbung. ***
*** This post contains advertisement. ***

Today I want to send you sunbeams. Create A Smile is currently running a challenge with a moodboard full of summer. This moodboard inspired me to create this card. While the background of the moodboard is blue and the objects are yellow, I wanted to create the negative of it. I also took the format of a collage as my inspiration.

I cut the single tiles from one piece, which I designed with Distress Oxides using the smooching technique. When it had dried, I embossed the leaves in two shades of blue on it. The tiles are glued directly to the white background whereas the text is applied with spacer pads. Here I also used cut-offs from the background cardstocks. At the end I added Nuvo Drops.
To lighten the stiffness of the straight arrangement a bit, I twisted everything.

Watt denn?!!

*** Dieser Post enthält Werbung. ***
*** This post contains advertisement. ***

Watt? Watt?

Mud? Mud? Yes, I miss the ocean..... still. And therefor I decided to yet make another maritime card with this funny mud flat worm. But this time I decided to go with non-maritime colours.

I stamped the cute worm with Ink on 3 and coloured it with Copics and Polychromos. The white dots are made with a Sakura pen. Also the white accents on the other parts of the card are drawn with it.

I made the background with watercolours. I tore the edges of the background by hand. In the upper left corner I fixed paper strips with a stapler and made a loop with a string underneath.
