Dum di dum.... Santa Claus is coming to town! You know the song, don't you? Yes, for Visible Wednesday I brought you a card with the cute Santa Claus from the set with the same name "Santa Claus" by Visible Image. It contains many more stamps, which are so versatile, but I just wanted it to keep it as simple as possible, because the little man fascinated me so much. After I had finished colouring him, the question arose about a suitable background. I decided for a soft alcoholink background. I could have come up with many others! I will have to colour some of his colleagues, in order to cover all my ideas! :)
I stamped Santa Claus with Ink on 3 and coloured him with Copics, then worked out details with Polychromos and set accents with them. I am often asked how I do this exactly. There are many different possibilities of colouration with Copics. As paper I use Perfect Colouring paper. With the Copicmarkers I start with the lightest colour tone and then move on to the darker colours. You always have to draw over the borders with the lighter shades again and again. Yes, it takes a very long time :) At the areas where there is little light, you choose a very dark hue. I mean a really dark one! Often one of the beginner's mistakes is that the gradations are not blatant enough, because the fear is that you won't get nice gradients. This only requires you to paint over the interfaces again and again in circle movements.
You can achieve even more depth in your image if you leave the spaces with a lot of light completely blank.
At the edges I set accents with Polychromos. You can work out good details nicely and give the motif even more depth. Afterwards I cut out Santa with a pair of scissors. .... and then first admired him for a while, hihihi.
I designed the background on Yupo paper with three colours of alcohol inks. On Yupo paper it is terribly difficult to stamp and so I was very pleased when my test showed that the Ink on 3 stamp pad is suitable for it. I worked with a stamping aid and let the ink dry well.
