Do you know this? You see a sketch and think, "Oh, that's great!" Or you see a colour combination and are in love. Or you read that a certain technique is asked in a challenge that you would like to try again. That's what happened with this card that combines three great challenges: a sketch, a color combination and a technique. You can find all details and link to the challenges at the end of my post as always.

Meanwhile you have noticed that I am a great friend of the Distress Oxides. They have such great covering power and the colours are gorgeous!  The first thing I did was to conjure up the stripes on the card using the emboss erstist technique. How do you do that? Emboss resist actually means that you emboss something in one color (usually colorless on white background or white) and then paint a colour over it so that the embossed motif shines through afterwards. In my special case, however, I first had to make a template for the stripes. I covered the outside edges with washi tape. (Somehow I feel a bit led by my washi tape. When I want it to stick, it keeps rolling up and I have to fix it somehow with other glue or adhesive tape. When I want it to come off again, then it sticks firmly!). Then I stamped the flower stamp a few times in thr first stripe with Versamark and embossed them with transparent embossing powder. Then I applied the Distress Oxide paint. Afterwards, I went the same way with the second stripe.

I stamped the mint coloured flowers with Memento, coloured them with Tria Letraset markers, Copics and crayons, fuzzy cut them and fixed them on the card with foam pads.

Lieblingsmensch - Stamping for Autism Awareness

Today I have a very special card for you, because I created it for the initiative from Veronica Zalis. She has created and organized the Stamping For Autism Awareness Blog Hop. You can find all details here (CLICK).

Please have a look at Veronica's blog. It is such a great initiative which she has started!

It is a one-layer card. I started by applying the mosaic-like pattern with a stencil. For this I have worked with two colours of Distress Oxides. After I took off the stencil, I applied some of the blue tone with a brush so that it didn't look quite as hard. The nice words are from the April stamp set of Anne 581 and Alexandra Renke; they read "just wonderful, pet person, great, great, great".

Birds just want to have fun - Welcome Christine!

... ach nee, das hieß ja "Girls just want to have fun", hihi.
... oh no, that song went "Girls just want to have fun", hihi. But this flamingo somehow reminded me of the song and the sunglasses and colours make me feel so good, right? Now you finally deserve such a little summer atmosphere after the many Easter and Christmas cards of the last days.

The flamingo is a multi-step stamp set. So you stamp the bottom layer first in a lighter color and then gradually stamp the other more detailed parts of the motif over it in darker colors. You have to be very careful that everything is more or less in the right place, so that the beak does not suddenly hang in the air, for example. Here too I used the stamp platform so that I could re-stamp the impression if it wasn't so full, but the Distress Oxides did a great job again this time and I was always satisfied with the first impression. After stamping there is another exciting step, because the stamps have a matching set of dies. You have to be careful that the die does not slip in the machine and that you do not accidentally head the flamingo!

Today I would like to warmly welcome Christine. She is a new follower of my blog, yipieh!

Christmas trees for Easter? - this is perhaps what you asked yourself, but I thought I would throw in a Christmas card after the many Easter cards. :) Maybe that brings you back into balance again. There are people who make Christmas cards the whole year long. Maybe they just love Christmas cards, or they want to be well prepared or just because it is fun to make Christmas cards! Maybe they have so many Christmas stamps... (as every stamper? hihi). And there are indeed also challenge blogs with Christmas as their special focus.

For the card I have brought out a very old stamp set from Stampin Up. It fell into my hands when I rummaged around in the Christmas stamp box and then I immediately had the idea with the embossing. Like so many of us, I have such nice old sets that you can't use them all, but with the idea I breathed new life into the set.
First I painted the tree with markers, slightly breathed on it and stamped it (three times:)). Then I stamped the respective patterns with Versamark on the dried trees and sprinkled them with different embossing powders and heated them to melt the powder. In addition I have rummaged once again in the depths of the embossing drawer, I have soooooo beautiful powders! On the far left is a particularly glittering gold and the tree on the right has a powder composed of various (autumn) tones.

Osterhasensuche

Did you also collect Easter eggs today already? We had the fun with my little son who happily collected all the Easter goodies in his basket.
I had already told you that my Easter cards this year are CAS (clean and simple), but they do not fulfill the strict rule of a lot of white space. Here are three more cards which have the layout in common. I only used different design paper.

Ich wünsche Euch ein wunderschönes Osterwochenende!
I wish all of you a very happy Easter weekend!

Gummistiefel

Challenges - Yes, I am quite active again to participate into challenges as you can see. Some say one cannot be inspired by two photos for one card, but convince yourself by looking at my card. I took both inspirational pictures and combined them into one card. And on top I wanted to make a CAS card with the theme cross and rain as it is asked for in the current challenges of Casology and Addicted to CAS.

Indeed my starting point was the new monthly stamp set form Anne581. It contains not only the great rubber boots with the tulips inside, but also the four wonderfully matching words. So the thought arose that I could arrange them in form of a cross around the image.
I first stamped the boots first and covered them with a piece of paper to splatter some water colour with a brush. I then coloured the image with Copics. I usually make myself a little colour palette on a scrap piece so that I have an imagination how the colours look together. I finished off with stamping the words in a cross arrangement. The words read "rain drops, umbrella, rain coat, rubber boots).

Do you like CAS?

Some are enthusiastic about it, some find it too simple: cards in a CAS design. Here comes a very typical example for CAS. I think there is not going to be any doubt about it being in CAS style.

... Frühlingsblüten, zarte Farbtöne.... komm, komm, komm.....
What do you think? Can we perhaps tempt spring by conjuring up some typical elements? ... Spring flowers, delicate colours... come, come, come ....

I first stamped the flower motive with Versamark and embossed it with white powder. I then coloured the picture with my good old water colours. I stamped the sentiment first and cut them out as a second step. For the finish I added a discreet stitched line at the bottom of the water colour paper piece.

And all of a sudden you meet them!

In diesem Falle zwei ganz liebenswerte Personen.
I made these tags for two very special persons. Do you know this: You are active in the internet and you see posts from persons, you might even follow them and adore what they are doing, you find interesting what happens around them, read comments and follow their "web story". Maybe you even make light bonds and then, .... there comes the day ... you meet them in person and you take the chance to chat with them. Wonderful! Exciting! Real, touchable and sometimes different from what you had expected. In my case two persons to be fond of! Holger and Claudia it was so nice to meet you in person!

I first created the background of the tags (I made three of them: two for the persons mentioned above and one for myself) with acrylic paint. The dark blue stripes were supposed to stick into the motive and to frame it. The ochre-coloured thin stripes from the bottom seem like barbed wire-like twigs. The sentiment has an altered pattern in itself, which I then also took for the dragon. I found the torn out book border, which you can see at the bottom of the tag so cool, since it also looks like a castle or fortress. As a little cherry on the icing I decorated the punch hole with the star and tagged the ribbon with two matching pins (thank you, Ilonka!).

CAS Ostern - CAS Easter

Yes, Easter already knocks on our doors at the end of this week. This year I managed to make a few Easter cards for my friends. I kept them clean and simple.

I used the cute stamp from the Easter set designed by Anne581. I liked it so much that I thought it would not need much more on the card. So I only fuzzy cut the upper end of the stamp and backed it with some design paper. In order to not overload the card with the crowd of bunnies I left a bigger part of the card blank.

Yes, I do have my follower still on the radar. So, if I saw it correctly in the meanwhile long list, Anke has signed up freshly for the stempelfrida blog. Thank you so much Anke, for your interest in what I am doing and writing here on my blog.

Today I would like to tell you a bit more about the Distress ink stamp pads. I did tell you about them once already and here is another card, which I made using these ink pads as my main medium.

Making-Of
I started to create the background for my card first and used the distress ink pads for it. I smeared the ink on a craft sheet and spritzed water on the ink. This way little drops form, which result in a nice pattern if you pull your paper through the ink or dip it into them. After drying with a heat gun I repeated this several times and also sprayed water on the background directly. Since the inks react with water the result is a nice chalk like finish.
But this can be another challenge if you want to work further directly on your background. You can stamp on the background (as done by me), but if you want to draw on it, you might get into trouble. I did not want to ruin my Copic marker tips with the chalky ink and water-based marker did not really work. So I ended up using crayons. I had stamped the flowers with Versamark and embossed them with white powder. You can see that the crayons are not covering up completely so the background shines through the flowers.

Retro
Retro
You may remember the Retro Rubber Challenge Blog, which has the aim to breathe life into our old stamps again. The stamps I used on my card are all from years ago. I really loved the stamps from PaperArtsy so much that I bought several flower sets about three years ago and during my baby break they were just waiting patiently to being used. Now the time has come and - I love them! Also the flowers in the background from Stampendous! are from a set, which I really love, because they have such a special whimsical look. It contains flowers, flower pieces and text. They are even older. I also want to highlight the stamp set from Winnie&Walter, which I find so versatile, since it has dots and stars and other little things, which are so handy for setting details on your art work.
